Alpujarra Knowmad Land Project

One of the main challenges looming over the future of the region of La Alpujarra is depopulation, facing this demographic challenge requires promoting initiatives to attract and settle new settlers through the generation of new employment opportunities and business growth, as well as improving public services offered at the level of the region, mainly those linked to internet connectivity and advanced technological services.

The main objective of the Alpujarra Knowmad Land project is to attract, retain and settle knowledge nomads and technological entrepreneurs, both nationally and internationally, in the Granada region of La Alpujarra, a natural enclave of great scenic beauty and rich cultural heritage.

The Alpujarra of Granada, in addition to being an international tourist destination, in recent years, has noticed an increase in the visiting population of professionals who telework, mainly of foreign origin, who spend some time of the year in this territory in which they find a suitable framework to develop their professional activity at a distance, connect with nature and get away from the urban agglomerations.

A segment of visitors and discontinuous residents of relevance that can become key in the fight against depopulation and the generation of new employment opportunities in niche markets with great growth potential.

The project is supported and funded by the General Secretariat for the Demographic Challenge under the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and is led by the Association of Municipalities of La Alpujarra Granadina.
In addition to launching a major network of Coworking centers aimed at knowledge nomads and technological entrepreneurs, the project offers personalized technical support to these professionals so they can settle in the region and get integrated into its economic and social ecosystem.

In this first phase, the project offers professionals and entrepreneurs who want to settle in this region for FREE a position to telework in one of the four nomadic centers of knowledge (Bubión, Ugíjar, Cádiar and Pampaneira), personalized advice, accompaniment and assistance both to find accommodation in the region and to develop their business project properly and to get customers in the region and its surroundings.
